What Makes Tucson Climbing Special

Southern Arizona is a destination that draws rock climbers from all across the world. Just outside Tucson, the 26-mile Mount Lemmon Highway winds through desert and mountain scenery, providing access to hundreds of climbing areas and more than 3,000 established routes. It is a paradise for hikers, climbers and others seeking outdoor activity with nearly year-round accessibility to trailheads.

Once a rugged frontier of the Wild West, Tucson still holds on to that spirit of adventure. The city serves as the perfect base camp for mountain adventures, with quick access to quiet, scenic, and uncrowded climbing areas across the surrounding ranges. With its laid-back vibe, clean desert air, and incredible variety of climbs, Tucson remains an amazing and still under-the-radar climbing destination.
